Edition 2025 — May Saint Lucy
In 2025, the Feast of the Patronage of Saint Lucy in Syracuse took place from May 3 to 11. The celebrations began on Saturday, May 3, with the ceremony of handing over the keys to the Deputation, the opening of the statue's niche, and the translation to the high altar.
On Sunday, May 4, the solemn Eucharistic concelebration presided over by Msgr. Pappalardo was held, followed at noon by the exit of the statue into Piazza Duomo and the procession towards the Church of Santa Lucia alla Badia, with the traditional release of doves. The final day, Sunday, May 11, saw the grand evening procession of the relics and the statue along the historic route through the streets of Ortigia, from Via Picherali to the seafront and up to Piazza Duomo, in an atmosphere of intense popular participation and devotion.
