Edition 2025 — Patronage of Saint Lucy
The 2025 summer festival
On the first Sunday of August 2025, Belpasso renewed the Feast of the Patronage of Saint Lucy, the summer event dedicated to the patron saint of the town on the slopes of Mount Etna. In Piazza Duomo, the allegorical floats of the Matrice and Sant'Antonio districts were presented, the large Baroque scenic machines preserved by the Carri di Santa Lucia Foundation.
As per tradition, the heart of the evening was the "spaccata": the spectacular opening of the scenic panels which, by moving and rotating, revealed scenes dedicated to the life and martyrdom of the Saint. The festival commemorated August 6, 1943, a date linked to the protection attributed by the community to the patron saint during the war.
Programme
Summer edition held on the first Sunday of August 2025 in Piazza Duomo, Belpasso. Traditional program:
- Presentation of the allegorical floats from the Matrice and Sant'Antonio districts
- Evening "spaccata" of the scenic machines (opening and rotation of the panels)
- Devotional moments in honor of Saint Lucy, patron saint of Belpasso
