Edition 2025 — Madonna della Catena May

In 2025, the votive feast of the Madonna della Catena in Castiglione di Sicilia was celebrated on Sunday, May 4, the first Sunday of the month. The Castiglione community renewed the ancient vow of 1809 with a pilgrimage of the faithful from the Alcantara Valley, solemn masses, and devotion to the marble statue of the Gagini school kept in the Basilica of the Madonna della Catena.

2025 Feast of the Madonna della Catena

The 2025 edition of the votive feast of the Madonna della Catena took place in Castiglione di Sicilia on Sunday, May 4, 2025, the first Sunday of the month. As per established tradition, devotees from Francavilla di Sicilia, Moio Alcantara, and the hamlets of Castiglione reached the village on foot to honor the patron saint, in remembrance of the vow made after the 1809 lava flow. Local confraternities took part in the services in the Basilica of the Madonna della Catena, the spiritual heart of the town in the province of Catania.
