Feast of the Italian Republic — Civic Baptism and Band Concert

June 2nd in Carate Brianza

Every June 2nd, Carate Brianza, in the province of Monza and Brianza, celebrates the Feast of the Italian Republic with a day that blends institutional memory and civic participation. The chosen venue is the historic Villa Cusani Confalonieri, the municipal seat and heart of Carate's public life, with its park and halls.

Civic Baptism of the Eighteen-Year-Olds

The most symbolic moment is the Civic Baptism: in the afternoon, the municipal administration presents a copy of the Constitution to young citizens who have reached or will reach the age of majority, accompanied by the flag-raising ceremony. It is a rite of citizenship that invites the newly adults to feel like active members of the community, in the presence of authorities and veterans' associations — Carabinieri, Marinai d'Italia, and Alpini — who collaborate in the ceremony.

Evening Band Concert

In the evening, the celebration continues with the concert by the Corpo Musicale SS. Ambrogio e Simpliciano, the town band, which performs in the spaces of Villa Cusani Confalonieri. A musical event open to all, which concludes the day with a repertoire designed for audiences of all ages.

A Shared Civic Feast

Although it is an institutional commemoration, Carate Brianza's June 2nd is experienced as a moment of community: citizens, families, and associations gather to celebrate republican values together. The 2026 edition coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, born from the 1946 referendum, and therefore holds particular solemn significance.
