2025 Edition

The 2025 Feast of the Immaculate Conception took place from November 29th to December 8th in the Giudecca of Ortigia, Syracuse. At three in the morning on November 29th, the traditional Atturna awakened the district, a prelude to the Svelata of the statue during the dawn mass in the Church of San Filippo Apostolo.

From November 30th to December 7th, the novena was accompanied by "Artigianando" stalls along Via della Giudecca and free tours of the Puppet Museum, the crypt, and the hypogeum. On the day of the Solemnity, December 8th, the 10:30 AM pontifical mass was presided over by Archbishop Msgr. Francesco Lomanto; at 4:00 PM the blue caps were presented to the bearers, at 4:30 PM the consecration of the children took place, and at 5:30 PM the triumphant exit of the statue occurred. The procession, with floral-adorned cilii and the Città di Siracusa Band, crossed the main streets of the historic center, returning to the church around 9:00 PM, inaugurating the city's cycle of winter religious festivals.
