Edition 2025 — Tusa Assumption Feast
The 2025 edition of the Feast of the Assumption of Mary in Tusa (province of Messina, Sicily) took place according to the traditional calendar from August 13th to 15th.
The festivities opened on August 13th with the evocative procession of the Madonna Morta through the streets of the historic center. On August 14th, the eve of Ferragosto, the Acchianata da Madonna was performed, the ancient scenic representation of the Assumption inscribed in the Register of Intangible Heritage of Sicily. On August 15th, the Historical Cavalcade, with horses and riders in costume, preceded the solemn Mass and the procession of the statue of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven.
As per tradition, the feast closed with the Octave celebrated on the following Sunday, with a repeat of the Acchianata.
