Feast of San Filippo d'Agira (August Festival)

The 2025 summer edition of the Feast of San Filippo d'Agira took place in Agira from August 10th to 12th, reprising the traditional structure of the rural thanksgiving festival. The days were preceded by the preparation triduum with the Holy Rosary and Holy Mass, and the visit of the relic to the sick.

August 12th, the main day, was announced early in the morning by the ringing of bells and cannon fire. At the end of the Holy Mass at the Abbey of San Filippo, the large bronze statue of the saint and the reliquary arm were carried in procession along the town streets, illuminated by lights and animated by market stalls, until the evening return to the Abbey for the blessing and the traditional kissing of the relic. The festival drew numerous returning emigrants to Agira for the occasion.
