Edition 2025 — Feast of Saint Pio at San Salvatore in Lauro
2025 Edition
From September 13th to 23rd, 2025, the San Salvatore in Lauro Sanctuary, in Rome's Historic Centre, hosted the annual feast dedicated to Saint Pio of Pietrelcina. Eucharistic adoration was held daily at 4:30 PM followed by Holy Mass at 6:00 PM.
On September 20th, the anniversary of the stigmata, the blood relic was exposed at 11:00 AM, and the evening solemn mass was presided over by Monsignor Edoardo Cerrato, Bishop Emeritus of Ivrea. On Sunday, September 21st, the thanksgiving mass was led by Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops; on the 22nd, the memorial of the transit, Monsignor Renato Tarantelli, Vicegerent of the Diocese of Rome, celebrated, followed by a vigil.
On Tuesday, September 23rd, the liturgical feast day, masses were held throughout the morning until 12:00 PM, and the main celebration at 6:00 PM was held in the square, presided over by Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The festivities concluded on Sunday, September 28th, with a thanksgiving mass presided over by Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, Co-Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major.
