Feast of Saint Pancras – Patron Saint of Taormina

Feast of Saint Pancras 2025

The 2025 edition of Taormina's patronal feast took place on July 9th, preceded by a novena from June 30th to July 8th at the Church of San Pancrazio. The day of the feast began at 9:00 AM with a Eucharistic celebration at the Patron Saint's church.

At 11:00 AM, at the cemetery, a laurel wreath was laid in memory of the victims of the bombing of July 9, 1943; the ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Jonathan Sferra, City Council President Pinuccio Composto, municipal administrators, former mayor Mario Bolognari, and historian Piero Arrigo, with a blessing given by Monsignor Carmelo Lupò.

In the evening, after the outdoor Mass in front of the church, the procession of the statue of Saint Pancras took place through the streets of the historic center, with a stop in Piazza IX Aprile for the traditional blessing and the return to the church with the "ascent" of the statue and the blessing of the relic.
