Edition 2025 — Feast of Saint Nicholas

On December 6th, 2025, Palazzo Adriano celebrated its Patron Saint with the Feast of Saint Nicholas of Myra. The Arbëresh community renewed its timeless traditions: the novena in the Church of Saint Nicholas, the distribution of "virgineddi" on the eve, the Solemn Divine Liturgy of the Byzantine rite, and the procession of the statue through the village streets, along with the blessing of the triform Saint Nicholas Bread.

The 2025 edition of the Feast of Saint Nicholas of Myra took place on December 6th in Palazzo Adriano (Palermo). Organized by the Confraternity of Saint Nicholas and preceded by the novena, the patronal feast confirmed the Arbëresh village's strong bond with its patron saint and the Byzantine-Greek rite preserved by the Italo-Albanian community.

Announced at dawn by the sound of bells, the day featured the celebration of the Solemn Divine Liturgy in the Church of Saint Nicholas of Myra and, in the late afternoon, the evocative procession of the saint's statue. On the eve, at the convent of the Basilian nuns, the traditional "virgineddi"—the local traditional humble soup made with homemade pasta, rice, legumes, and broccoli—were blessed and distributed.
