Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel (Translation)

The 2025 edition of the festivities in honor of Saint Michael the Archangel in Orsara di Puglia confirmed the vitality of the Michaelic cult in the Daunian Mountains. Local press reported on the tradition of the drums of Saint Michael, with the village youth awake from 4 AM to beat the drums through the alleys until 6 AM, before the 7:00 AM firecrackers. The wooden statue was translated to the Cave and carried in procession on the shoulders of porters in white tunics, with the customary meeting with Our Lady of the Snows in front of the Mother Church of San Nicola. In the evening, musical shows and fireworks concluded the festival in the village of the Foggia province.
