Edition 2025 — Saint Marcellus

On January 16, 2025, Anversa degli Abruzzi celebrated its patron, Pope Marcellus I and Martyr, upholding the traditions that have accompanied the occasion for centuries. Between liturgical celebrations in the parish church, the lighting of bonfires in the square, the blessing of animals, and polenta tastings, the village in the Sagittario Valley experienced its most intense communal day of the year.

The patronal feast of January 16, 2025, saw Anversa degli Abruzzi gather around the cult of Pope Marcellus I. In the dry cold of the Apennine winter, the village celebrated Mass in the historic church dedicated to the saint and renewed traditional rites: bonfires lit in the square, the blessing of animals linked to the village's rural world, and polenta tastings. An ancient ritual that the small Abruzzo municipality, in the heart of the Sagittario Valley, repeats from generation to generation.
