Edition 2025 — Feast of Saint John the Baptist

In 2025, Pozzallo once again celebrated its co-patron Saint John the Baptist with the customary week of festivities culminating on June 24th. The Varchiata a Mare, with the statue carried in procession on an adorned fishing boat followed by fishermen's vessels, confirmed the strong bond of the maritime community with its protector, alongside the evening procession on the Saint's day.

The 2025 edition of the Feast of Saint John the Baptist in Pozzallo (Ragusa Province, Sicily) followed the established tradition: a week of religious and popular celebrations around the date of June 24th. The heart of the festivities was the evocative Varchiata a Mare, the sea procession where the statue of the Saint, placed on a flower-adorned fishing boat, was accompanied by small boats with red flags. The Saint's day concluded with a solemn mass and the evening procession of the statue through the streets of the center, along with the Reliquary Arm. The festival, deeply participated in by Pozzallo's emigrants and sailors, renewed an identity-driven rite with roots dating back to 1925.
