Feast of Saint Giles the Abbot

The 2025 edition of the patronal feast of Linguaglossa opened on August 24 with the ceremony of handing over the city keys to the Patron Saint and the start of the novena at the Church of Saint Giles. Throughout the week, as noted by Mayor Luca Stagnitta, religious initiatives alternated with shows and folklore in an atmosphere of strong popular participation.

The highlight was Monday, September 1: after the Eucharistic celebration, the statue of Saint Giles was carried in procession from the Mother Church in the evening, moving through the center amidst the devotion of the faithful. The day concluded with the return of the statue to the church and fireworks in Piazza Matrice, sealing the most cherished festival of the Etna community.
