Feast of Saint Blaise

The 2025 Feast of Saint Blaise took place as every year on February 3rd at the Church of Santa Teresa in Nardò, in the province of Lecce. Worshippers of all ages took part in the rite of the blessing of the throat, a gesture performed by the priest by crossing two candles over the necks of those present, according to a tradition that has deep roots in Nardò in ancient devotions linked to the saint's protection against throat ailments.

The celebration, organized by the Confraternity of the Most Holy Sacrament, was preceded by the usual preparatory triduum. As is customary, the blessing continued throughout the day, attracting in particular numerous families with children, for whom this event represents one of the most cherished moments of the local devotional calendar.
