Edition 2025 — Winter Feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot

The 2025 winter edition of the Feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot in Aci Sant'Antonio took place on Friday, January 17th, renewing the patronal tradition of the Etna town in the province of Catania. Amidst the tolling of bells, cannon fire, the blessing of bread and animals, and the evening procession of the 16th-century statue, the community gathered around its patron saint in the heart of winter.

The 2025 winter edition followed the traditional rite of January 17th. The day opened with the tolling of sacred bells and cannon fire, followed by Eucharistic celebrations and the blessing of the bread. After the unveiling of the 16th-century statue, exposed for the veneration of the faithful, the beloved rite of the blessing of the animals was renewed in the late morning, in honor of the Saint, protector of livestock.

At nightfall, around 8:00 PM, the statue left the Mother Church on the artistic float adorned with Corinthian columns, arches, silver lamps, and cherubs, to be led in procession along the streets of the center of Aci Sant'Antonio, with prayer stops in front of city churches and the accompaniment of the historical 'candelore'.
