Edition 2025 — Our Lady of the Snows of Mühnes

On August 5, 2025, the Feast of Our Lady of the Snows was renewed in Issime at the Mühnes alpine hamlet, at 2007 meters in the San Grato Valley. As tradition dictates, the day combined the morning ascent, mass in the small alpine chapel around 11:00 AM, distribution of polenta and milk by the Pro Loco, and musical accompaniment, in a mountain setting deeply linked to the Walser culture of the Lys Valley.

In 2025, the festival also followed the established rite. From the morning, participants ascended the San Grato Valley to reach the hamlet of Mühnes; around 11:00 AM, Holy Mass was celebrated in the alpine chapel, followed by the distribution of polenta and milk by Pro Loco Issime and musical accompaniment in the afternoon.

The Our Lady of the Snows festival on August 5th is a recurring event in high-altitude sanctuaries throughout the Aosta Valley: in Issime, it takes on the character of an alpine festival for the Walser community, blending faith, walking, and conviviality.
