Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

The 2025 edition of the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows was celebrated in Ciminna (PA) starting on Sunday, October 19, 2025, following the custom that sets the feast on the third Sunday of October.

As per tradition, the solemn day featured the evening procession of the Addolorata statue, carried in a cortège through the historic center of the Madonie village to the Mother Church. Here, the statue remained exposed for the veneration of the faithful throughout the octave, the eight days of prayer at the end of which it was returned in procession to the chapel of the Chiesa del Purgatorio, in Piazza Umberto I.

The festivities, organized by the Venerable Congregation of Maria Santissima Addolorata, involved the entire Ciminna community in a blend of religious moments, hymns, and musical accompaniment by the band, confirming the town's strong bond with this ancient devotion.
