Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Nunziata

The 2025 edition

The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Nunziata di Mascali (CT) was celebrated in 2025 according to the traditional calendar, with the solemn day on Wednesday, July 16th. The Metropolitan City of Catania ordered the temporary closure of the S.P. 5/II to ensure the safety of the evening procession.

The two-week preparation period, which began on July 1st, guided the community toward the solemnity. At dawn on the 16th, the village was awakened by the festive ringing of bells and fireworks. In the evening, the open-air Holy Mass, with the Sanctuary of Piano Tamburino in the background, preceded the procession of the statue towards the mother church of Nunziata, where the Madonna remained until the following Sunday, the day of the external feast with the exit and return procession.

Preparation and solemnity

• July 1st — Start of the two-week preparation period
• July 16th, dawn — Festive ringing of bells and fireworks
• July 16th, evening — Open-air Holy Mass at the Sanctuary of Piano Tamburino and procession to the mother church of Nunziata
• Following Sunday — External feast with exit and return procession to the mother church
• Monday — Return of the statue to the Sanctuary
