The Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Libera

In Cercemaggiore, in the province of Campobasso, the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Libera houses a precious 14th-century wooden statue of the Virgin and has been a destination for devotion and pilgrimages for centuries. The Feast of Our Lady of Liberty, held at the beginning of July, is the main religious event in the village, nicknamed the "sentinel of the Samnites" for its position at about 930 meters above sea level.

The Jalisse concert in 2026

In 2026, the festival features a major musical event: on July 2nd, the Jalisse, the duo formed by Alessandra Drusian and Fabio Ricci, winners of the 1997 Sanremo Festival with "Fiumi di parole", will take the stage. The concert, with free admission, promises a show of their greatest hits, in a festive atmosphere that combines devotion and entertainment.

Between faith, processions, and gastronomy

The religious festival includes masses, a triduum, and processions in honor of Our Lady of Liberty, with the participation of the faithful and many emigrants who return for the occasion. Around the Sanctuary, according to tradition at the beginning of July, food stalls are set up with local specialties. A blend of the sacred and the popular that makes this event one of the most beloved of the Molise summer.
