Feast of Maria Santissima della Stella

2025 Edition

In 2025, Militello in Val di Catania once again celebrated its patron saint, Maria Santissima della Stella, with the usual calendar of rites from August 29th to September 16th. The "Cantata" on August 29th opened the novena with the procession of the Madonna's painting, while on September 7th, the unveiling of the statue on the church steps drew numerous faithful. On September 8th, the day of the Nativity of the Virgin, the triumphant exit ("a nisciuta") was renewed, followed by the long procession of the statue through the Baroque historic center with the votive "spugghiata" of the children and the grand fireworks display in the evening. The festivities concluded on September 16th with the Octave and the return of the statue to the Sanctuary.
