Iseo, capital of Europe's lakes
Born in 2010, the European Lakes Festival in Iseo, in the province of Brescia, has a simple yet ambitious idea: to create a dialogue between Italian and European lake territories, making Sebino their meeting point. For five days, the town welcomes delegations from numerous countries in a grand event that intertwines gastronomy, culture, music, and international exchange.
The delicious heart of the event is the BontàLago market exhibition, which invades the historic center with stands of typical products, tastings, and specialties from the various lakes represented. Show cooking and guided tastings take visitors on a journey through freshwater flavors, from lake fish to products from lakeside territories. A feast for food lovers, but also for families and the simply curious.
Alongside the food and wine aspect, the cultural program is very rich: concerts, book presentations, theatrical performances, guided tours of Iseo's historical heritage, and meetings with writers and researchers. The connected musical review offers classical music, jazz manouche, operetta, and film music in evocative settings such as the parvis of the Pieve di Sant'Andrea and the Gabriele Rosa port.
For the Municipality of Iseo, overlooking Lake Iseo in the Lombardy Region, the festival is an international showcase and an opportunity to enhance its historic center and lakefront. The event confirms the town's tourist and cultural vocation, capable of becoming the capital, at least for a few days, of lakes throughout Europe.
The 2026 edition of the European Lakes Festival marks the event's return to Iseo after five years, from May 29 to June 2, 2026. Five days of food, music, culture, and show cooking, with meetings between delegations from 19 countries. The historic center and the lakefront come alive with stands, sounds, scents, and events designed for every audience.
The Onde Musicali review offers classical music, jazz manouche, operetta, and film music at the parvis of the Pieve di Sant'Andrea and the Gabriele Rosa port. Full program on Visit Lake Iseo.
