Edition 2025 — EDTH Rome

In 2025, the European Defense Tech Hackathon circuit had not yet visited Rome: the Italian event was held in Milan from October 3 to 5, 2025, with over 100 hackers and 141 registrants. It was from that edition, and the success of the format in Italy, that the decision was made to bring the hackathon to the Capital in July 2026.

The 2025 Italian precedent

The 2026 Rome edition is the first ever: in 2025, the Italian stop of the European Defense Tech Hub circuit took place in Milan, from October 3 to 5, with more than 100 hackers at work and 141 registered participants. The format was already the established one: 48 hours of development, challenges prepared by the organizers or open projects, and a concluding Demo Day with three-minute pitches and an awards ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

The positive reception in Milan convinced the organizers to double the Italian presence, adding Rome to the 2026 European calendar alongside Paris, London, Brussels, Athens, and the Netherlands. For Lazio, this is the first event of its kind dedicated to dual-use technologies and defense.
