Edition 2025 — Eritrean Independence Rome

In 2025, the Eritrean community in Rome celebrated the 34th anniversary of independence on Sunday, May 18th, anticipating the historic date of May 24th by a few days. The day, held under the theme "Our Cohesion – Our Armour," featured cultural and artistic presentations and a speech by the Ambassador of the State of Eritrea to Italy, Fesehatsion Petros, on the country's situation and the role of the diaspora.

The 34th anniversary in the capital

The 2025 edition was held in Rome on May 18th, along with celebrations organized on the same day in Catania and Pisa. The theme of the year, "Our Cohesion – Our Armour," highlighted the cohesion of the community as a tool for protection and continuity.

Day's contents

The program alternated cultural and artistic presentations — music, dances, and traditional Eritrean costumes — with the Ambassador's speech, dedicated to the current situation in Eritrea and the role of compatriots abroad in national issues. In the following weeks, from May 25th to June 1st, celebrations continued in Milan, Bologna, Florence, Turin, Naples, Palermo, Padua, and other Italian cities.
