Easter Procession – Lu 'Ncontru

Easter 2025 in Ribera confirmed "Lu 'Ncontru" as the most attended celebration in the Agrigento town, with about ten thousand attendees. The day intertwined religious and folkloric moments: the running of the saints, floral displays, confraternity banners, illuminations, and fireworks. The climax was reached on Corso Umberto I and in front of the Mother Church, in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, with the meeting between the statues of the Risen Christ and Our Lady of Peace. A novelty of the year was the decoration of the three statues with fresh flowers by specialized artisans. The moment, described as solemn and moving, was accompanied by applause, tears of emotion, prayers, flying doves, and a final blessing given from a balcony.
