Edition 2025 — Easter Monday at San Vito

On Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, the community of Calimera gathered in the San Vito grove for the traditional Easter Monday celebration. The rite of the pierced stone, the burning of the Quaremma, and the pizzica dance circles marked a day dedicated to memory and conviviality in Grecìa Salentina.

Easter Monday 2025 at San Vito

In 2025, Easter Monday on April 21 once again brought the people of Calimera and visitors together around the rural church of San Vito. From the morning, the faithful performed the rite of the pierced stone, crawling through the hole of the megalith housed in the nave to foster health and fertility.

Families spent the day among the olive trees, sharing food and stories, while in the afternoon, the burning of the Quaremma symbolically marked the end of Lent. At dusk, the tambourines ignited the pizzica dance circles, concluding an authentic Easter Monday organized by the Pro Loco of Calimera.
