Edition 2025 — Easter in Ferla

In 2025, Easter in Ferla once again confirmed its great charm, drawing thousands of visitors to the Iblei village. On Holy Saturday night, the fire-lit Sciaccariata crossed the historic center amidst thousands of reed torches, while on Easter Sunday, the moving U Scontru reunited the Risen Christ and the Madonna on the main street, upholding a tradition passed down for over 150 years.

Easter in Ferla 2025

The 2025 edition of the Holy Week Rites in Ferla renewed a deeply felt event for the village in the Iblei Mountains, in the province of Syracuse. That year as well, the Sciaccariata on Holy Saturday night transformed the village into a small town illuminated by fire, with the statue of the Risen Christ carried on shoulders amidst thousands of burning sciaccare. On Easter Sunday, at noon, the Via Sacra hosted U Scontru, the moving encounter between the Risen Christ and his Mother. The celebrations drew visitors from all over Sicily, confirming the identity value of a tradition that has been alive for over a century and a half in the Municipality of Ferla.
