Edition 2025 — 'Ncontru of Lercara
On Sunday, April 20, 2025, Lercara Friddi renewed the ancient tradition of the Easter Encounter in Piazza Duomo. On Easter morning, the statue of Saint Michael the Archangel, dressed in white with a red sash and preceded by the roll of a drum, searched for the Risen Christ by performing the traditional back-and-forth movements between the two statues.
At exactly noon, the statues of the Risen Christ and the Madonna bowed to one another in the center of the square, amidst the applause of the crowd and the sound of the bells. This was followed by the isàta degli stendardi, with the confraternities of the Most Holy Crucifix and Sant'Alfonso striving to be the first to raise their banners. The pageant concluded a Holy Week that in Lercara Friddi also includes the Living Via Crucis and the Good Friday procession.
