Earth Day Med – Mediterranean Climate Festival

The first edition of Earth Day Med, presented as the first Mediterranean Climate Festival, was held in Palermo from April 6 to 12, 2025, promoted by the Fondazione Studio Rizoma with the ECCO think tank, the Heinrich Böll Foundation, and the University of Palermo. The festival was inaugurated on Sunday, April 6, with the itinerant walk "walking trees," featuring readings and music. On Monday, April 7, workshops with schools on agricultural sustainability took place, while on April 9, Palazzo Steri hosted the international conference with over thirty speakers on the theme "Just Transition and Climate in the Mediterranean." The program was completed by the "Syndacat" assembly at the Ecomuseo Memoria Viva, screenings and performances, an environmental cleanup action at the Foro Italico, and workshops on food and fermentation at the Radici museum, with educational activities for children. The event was held under the patronage of the Municipality of Palermo and the Union for the Mediterranean.
