Edition 2025 — Donation of the Holy Thorn
The 2025 edition of the Donation of the Holy Thorn confirmed the event's role as one of Umbria's most cherished historical re-enactments. In Montone, province of Perugia, the three districts competed "with dramatic twists" and arrows for the Palio, while the village immersed itself in a medieval atmosphere of parades, costumes, and the election of the Castellana.
The festival, established in 1961 by the Pro Loco Montonese, once again celebrated the legacy of Braccio da Montone and the gift of his son Carlo Fortebracci: a thorn from Christ's crown, preserved and venerated by the community. An event that every August draws enthusiasts and visitors to one of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages.
