Edition 2025 — Giuliano Dialect Poetry
The competition in the year of the fiftieth anniversary
The 2025 Dialect Poetry Competition in Giuliano di Roma took place on Saturday, August 23, in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, confirming its traditional late-August slot in the historic center of the Ciociaria village.
The event was part of a particularly significant summer for the town: the Pro Loco Giuliano di Roma celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of its founding, dating back to July 1975, with a convivial meeting that brought together the presidents who have served at the helm of the organization. In the balance of those fifty years, the poetry competition stands out as one of the most identity-defining initiatives, alongside traditional food festivals and the historical re-enactment of the passage of Pope Innocent III.
A language to preserve
In the 2025 edition, the heart of the event remained the Giulianese dialect, with unpublished poems on open themes evaluated by a jury and read in the square by the authors themselves. The organizers reiterated the purpose of the initiative: to keep alive a local language that represents a shared heritage, capable of connecting the town's generations.
