Cortile Teatro Festival

14th edition — "Com'è profondo il mare"

The fourteenth edition of the Cortile Teatro Festival, held from August 1 to 29, 2025, chose the relationship between art and the sea as its central theme. Five evening events, distributed between the Boschetto, the Cortile, and the Promontorio of the Tenuta Rasocolmo, as well as the Lega Navale of Messina, featured oral storytelling, monologues, and dance. Among the most intense moments were Gaspare Balsamo's performance dedicated to the 'cunti' (tales) of Horcynus Orca and Carlo Gallo's story about the 'bollari', ancient sea signals used by Ionian fishermen.

Monday, August 4 — Lega Navale, Messina section

• 21:00 — "Epica Fera – Cunti da Horcynus Orca", by and with Gaspare Balsamo. An oral tale evoking the fishermen of the Strait and Stefano D'Arrigo's novel

Saturday, August 9 — Boschetto of Tenuta Rasocolmo

• 19:00 — "Bollari – Memorie dello Jonio", by and with Carlo Gallo. A journey to discover the 'bollari', ancient sea signals known to Ionian fishermen

Friday, August 22 — Cortile of Tenuta Rasocolmo

• 20:00 — "Post Democracy", by and with Raimondo Brandi. An ironic and bitter show on the contradictions of modernity

Friday, August 29 — Promontorio of Tenuta Rasocolmo

• 18:00 — "Atto di resistenza", project, choreography, and dance performance by Danilo Smedile
