Edition 2025 — Corsa di Santu Liu

In 2025, the Corsa di Santu Liu took place on the evening of Sunday, April 20, Easter Day. The nocturnal ritual of Saint Leo renewed the centuries-old tradition of Sinagra: a procession from the rural church, the slow 'two steps forward, one step back' pace, and the final run toward the town center amidst fireworks, band marches, and an impressive popular turnout.

The 2025 edition of the Corsa di Santu Liu was held on the evening of Sunday, April 20, 2025, on the occasion of Easter. As every year in Sinagra, in the Nebrodi mountains of the Messina province, the statue of Saint Leo was carried on the shoulders of devotees along the provincial road, with the characteristic slow gait symbolizing the Saint's hesitation.

The ritual concluded with the traditional final run toward the Mother Church, amidst fireworks, band marches, and the choral cry of 'Viva Santu Liu'. The event, inscribed in the Sicilian Intangible Heritage Registry, confirmed its identity-defining strength by drawing thousands of faithful and visitors to the heart of the town.
