Edition 2025 — La Cordesca
Cordesca 2025: The 22nd edition in Sulmona
The 22nd edition of La Cordesca was held on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Sulmona, Abruzzo. The historical pageant departed at 4:00 PM from Piazza Plebiscito, near the Church of Santa Maria della Tomba, crossing the historic center to the Stadio Comunale Francesco Pallozzi, where the competitions began at 5:30 PM. The return of the pageant was scheduled for 7:30 PM, with a repeat on Sunday.
About four hundred participants in period costumes, including young knights, musicians, and flag-wavers, took part in the event, creating an authentic historical re-enactment of the Peligna Renaissance. The youth of the seven districts competed to spear the rings and win the 2025 Palio, created by artist Laura Fontana. The event was held under the patronage of the Abruzzo Region, the Municipality of Sulmona, and with the support of the Fondazione Carispaq.
