Edition 2025 — Convivium Pomarance AD 1626
2025 represented the preparatory phase of the celebrations for the 400th anniversary of the death of Cristoforo Roncalli, known as Il Pomarancio. In view of the fourth centenary (1626-2026), the Municipality of Pomarance and the «400° Roncalli il Pomarancio» Committee launched the commemorative project, designed to rediscover the artistic heritage and cultural legacy of the Master linked to this village in the Val di Cecina, in the province of Pisa.
From this journey, the Renaissance re-enactment Convivium Pomarance AD 1626 was born in the spring of 2026: a community festival promoted by the Pro Loco together with the Municipality, the Palio districts, and local associations. Pomarance's vocation for historical re-enactment was already well-rooted thanks to the famous Historical Palio of the Districts, which brings pageants and living tableaux in costume to the stage every September.
