Concours Cerlogne

The 2025 edition of the Concours Cerlogne confirmed the central role of this event in preserving the Franco-Provençal patois, an identity language of the Aosta Valley. As every year, schools in the region dedicated the entire school year to research on a theme related to local culture and traditions, which was then presented at the grand two-day final celebration. Through class welcomes, workshops, school performances, work exhibitions, stories in patois, and folk dances, the event — organized by the Regional Department of Education through the BREL — brought together thousands of children, teenagers, and teachers, proving to be a valuable tool for passing on a fragile linguistic heritage deeply rooted in the territory to new generations.
