Concert for Saint Joseph

A musical evening in the heart of the patron saint's feast

The Concert for Saint Joseph is the musical event that the Pro Loco of Castelplanio dedicates each year to the town's patron saint, in the middle Vallesina area, in the province of Ancona. The evening takes place in the main hall of the Castelplanio Middle School and completes the program of the patronal feast, made up of religious celebrations, convivial moments, and popular traditions deeply rooted in the Marche community.

The patron saint's feast has ancient roots: according to local popular tradition, the devotion to Saint Joseph is linked to an earthquake in 1741, when a portrait of the saint is said to have lessened the population's suffering. Since then, the bond between the village and its patron saint has been passed down from generation to generation, becoming the occasion that brings the inhabitants of Castelplanio together every spring.

Between singer-songwriter music and village traditions

The concert celebrates Italian singer-songwriter music, in line with the intimate and familiar character of the feast. The musical evening is complemented by other activities organized by the Pro Loco: the stand with porchetta in the afternoon, the celebrations in the parish church, and the most anticipated moment, the launch of paper hot air balloons into the evening sky, a ritual that the inhabitants have kept alive for decades as a sign of fidelity to tradition.

A free event for the whole community

Admission is free: the Concert for Saint Joseph was not conceived as a major festival, but as a cultural gesture that the Pro Loco offers to the town and to those who wish to discover the authentic festivals of the Marche hinterland.
