Comeliano Carnival – Mascarada di Santa Plonia

The 2025 edition of the Comeliano Carnival confirmed the vitality of one of the oldest masks in the Dolomites. In Dosoledo, a hamlet of Comelico Superiore, the wooden masks paraded through the village from house to house, keeping the tradition passed down through generations intact. The parades of the laké and matazin, accompanied by the matazere, attracted curious onlookers and lovers of alpine traditions, confirming an intangible cultural heritage deeply rooted in the Ladin community of Comelico.

Program similar to tradition: dressing of the masks, parades of the laké and matazin from house to house, dances to the traditional polka, and an evening dance to conclude the day.
