Colombano 500 — Five Hundred Years of the Pertus di Colombano Romean

During 2025, the upper Susa Valley territory gave shape to the Colombano 500 project, in anticipation of the five hundredth anniversary of the start of work on the Pertus di Colombano Romean (1526). Around the memory of the stonemason born in the Ramats hamlet of Chiomonte, the Municipality of Exilles, Pro Loco Exilles, and the Colombano Romean Ecomuseum of the Cottian Alps Parks began building a cultural, scientific, and artistic festival.

Guided tours of the tunnel, traditionally offered in the low-water months between August and October, continued to raise awareness of this extraordinary work, which is still functional today at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, preparing the public for the major 2026 event.
