An Extraordinary Procession in the Jubilee Year

The 2025 edition in Barrafranca (EN) was marked by an exceptional event: authorized by Monsignor Rosario Gisana, Bishop of Piazza Armerina, an extraordinary procession took place on September 8, 2025, reviving a tradition dating back to the 1960s, when the procession occurred every seven years. Alongside the image of Maria SS. della Stella, the statues of various local saints were carried on shoulders in a procession of great devotional intensity.

The feast confirmed its characteristic elements: the two-week evening prayer period, the Ritini parade with grain offered as a vow, Sicilian carts, the marching band, and fireworks to close the day, in front of numerous faithful and emigrants who returned to the town for the occasion.
