Edition 2025 — Via Crucis at the Greek Theatre
The 2025 edition of the City Via Crucis at the Greek Theatre was held on Friday, April 11, 2025, Good Friday, at 7:30 PM, in the evocative cavea of the Greek Theatre of Syracuse. The theme of the year was "Tears and Hope in the Cross of Jesus."
The fifteen stations were performed by students of the Inda Foundation's Academy of Ancient Drama, while the prayer was led by the Archbishop of Syracuse, Monsignor Francesco Lomanto. The faithful were given a booklet containing prayers, reflections, and hymns, enriched with images of the Basilica-Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime created by artist Giorgio Orefice. The initiative, promoted by the Parishes of the Vicariate of Syracuse with the support of the Archaeological Park, confirmed the Via Crucis at the Greek Theatre as one of the most heartfelt moments of the Syracusan Holy Week.
