Edition 2025 — Cirigliano Carnival
The 2025 edition of the Cirigliano Carnival confirmed the extraordinary continuity of a rite rooted in the 18th century and revived in 1947. In the final days of carnival, the streets of the village in the province of Matera brought back to life the representation of agricultural time with the masks of the twelve Months and the four Seasons, the procession led by Pulcinella with the cowbell from the 16th-century Baronial Castle, the Weeping of Quaremma, and the funeral procession of the Carnival, which concluded with the traditional bonfire. An event curated by the Pro Loco of Cirigliano, a precious example of Lucanian intangible heritage.
