Documentary cinema in the inland areas of the Alto Fermano Apennines
Cineforum Prospettive is the cycle of screenings and meetings that brings documentary cinema to the villages of the Alto Fermano Apennines, in the province of Fermo, in the Marche region. In Montefalcone Appennino, one of the smallest and most evocative villages in the region, the events take place at the Teatro del Falco, the municipal cultural space overlooking the Sibillini Mountains.
The series uses documentary as a tool for critical analysis of the present, offering films that address central themes such as the environment, memory, inequalities, migrations, rights, and the future of communities, constantly linking the global dimension with the local one.
Cineforum Prospettive is part of the "Impagini: cinema and books in the inland areas" project, which involves the Municipalities of Santa Vittoria in Matenano, Amandola, Montefalcone Appennino, Montelparo, and Smerillo, in the SNAI inland area of the Alto Fermano Apennines. The project consists of two actions: a literary festival and a travelling film forum with five screenings hosted in rotation in theatres, municipal halls, and cultural spaces in the various municipalities, enhancing structures often underutilized after the 2016 earthquake.
Each screening is accompanied by a public discussion: after the credits, directors, authors, scholars, and residents engage in dialogue with the audience about regenerative agriculture, work, youth and participation, and the future of mountain communities. Cinema thus becomes an opportunity for collective meeting and reflection, perfectly integrated into the identity of the small Apennine towns.
The series is promoted by the Associazione Piccola Scuola Rurale, the lead organization of the project, with the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ascoli Piceno and the collaboration of Cooperativa NuovaRicerca.AgenziaRes, Associazione Equilibri APS, and Spazio Betti APS, with the patronage of the Municipality of Montefalcone Appennino.
Admission is free until seats are filled: a valuable event for those who love cinema that tells stories of places and people.
The Montefalcone stop of the 2026 edition was held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM, at the Teatro del Falco in Montefalcone Appennino (Province of Fermo, Marche).
The documentary "Noi e la grande ambizione" by Andrea Segre, produced by ZaLab, was screened: a portrait of a generation of young people capable of critically analyzing the present, born from the echo of the distribution of "Berlinguer. La grande ambizione".
The screening was followed by a public discussion on the theme "Youth and Participation", open to youth associations and local realities. Admission was free until seats were filled.
The Montefalcone stop is part of the "Prospettive – Territories, Work, and Possible Futures" series, consisting of five travelling screenings in the Municipalities of Santa Vittoria in Matenano, Amandola, Montefalcone Appennino, Montelparo, and Smerillo.
The screenings in Montefalcone Appennino are held at the Teatro del Falco, in the historic center of the village (Province of Fermo, Marche).
By car: Montefalcone Appennino is reachable from the SS4 Salaria and the Ascoli-Mare expressway, then continuing along the internal roads towards the Sibillini Mountains. The nearest train station is Pedaso or Porto San Giorgio-Fermo, on the Adriatic line, with onward travel by car.
