CiakPolska 2025: Agnieszka Holland and the Has Centenary
The 13th edition of the CiakPolska Film Festival brought Rome to life from November 11th to 20th, 2025, confirming the two-venue format promoted by the Polish Institute in Rome.
At Palazzo Esposizioni Roma, from November 11th to 16th, the third edition of the Great Classics of Polish Cinema hosted the A Different Gaze retrospective dedicated to Agnieszka Holland: from Screen Tests (1976) to Green Border, including Fever, A Woman Alone, In Darkness, Olivier, Olivier, Mr. Jones, and Spoor. On November 12th, the director personally attended a Q&A with critic Enrico Magrelli.
From November 17th to 20th, the Casa del Cinema in Villa Borghese hosted the New Polish Cinema, featuring titles such as Trains by Maciej J. Drygas, The Girl with the Needle by Magnus von Horn, The Last Expedition by Eliza Kubarska, Holofiction by Michał Kosakowski, Abakamania, Solaris mon amour by Kuba Mikurda, and Imago by Olga Chajdas, many presented in the presence of their directors.
The closing event on November 20th was a special screening in collaboration with Fuori Orario / Rai Cultura: The Saragossa Manuscript (1964) by Wojciech Jerzy Has, in a new fully restored version, marking the centenary of the director's birth. Admission was free at both venues.
