Chinese New Year at Mercato Centrale Rome

Before the debut

The festival dedicated to the Chinese New Year within Mercato Centrale Rome had its first edition in February 2026: in 2025, it was not yet scheduled. In that year, Roman celebrations for the Year of the Snake took place mainly outdoors, in the Esquilino district and around the porticoes of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, the historic heart of the capital's Chinese community, in the Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio region.

It was precisely from that neighborhood experience that the idea was born to bring the festival under the vaults of Mercato Centrale, adding a more intimate journey of workshops, rituals, and shared cooking to the collective dimension of the street.
