Chestnut Festival

On Saturday, November 1st, 2025, the village of Ascrea hosted the 12th edition of the Chestnut Festival in Piazza Mareri, on the shores of Lake Turano. Starting at noon, under a large marquee, the Ascrea Pro Loco served a lunch dedicated to autumn flavors: pasta all'amatriciana, roasted sausage with sides, a paper cone of roasted chestnuts, and chestnut desserts, accompanied by water and red wine.

The day was accompanied by musical entertainment from the Colorado Band, while a free shuttle service connected the parking lots along the provincial road to the center of the village. The absolute star was the Cicolano red chestnut, also available in bags for purchase on-site, in a festival that combined taste, tradition, and conviviality in the heart of the Rieti Sabina region.
