The 2025 celebrations in Greccio

From October 2nd to 5th, 2025, the Municipality of Greccio, in the province of Rieti, celebrated Saint Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Italy. On October 2nd, at 12:00 PM, the ancient image of the Saint was unveiled; in the following days, morning Masses and evening prayer vigils were held at the Sanctuary of the first Nativity Scene.

Saturday, October 4th, the day of the solemnity and the Day of Giving, the torchlight procession organized by the Fraternity of Greccio departed from Piazza Roma towards the Sanctuary, followed by the celebration of the Transitus animated by the "Piccoli Amici del Presepe" choir and a tasting offered by the Committee.

Sunday, October 5th, after the morning Masses and the arrival of the marching band, the procession in the woods took place with the participation of the Mayors of the Province of Rieti and the twinned cities, followed by the solemn Eucharistic celebration. The festival concluded with porchetta, a charity raffle, and the fireworks display.
