Edition 2025 — Annunziata Festival in Castro

In 2025, Castro once again celebrated its patron saint Maria SS. Annunziata with the traditional patronal feast in the historic center. Highlights included the Sagra del pesce a sarsa on April 23rd, the solemn procession, brass band concerts, and the light displays that illuminated the village overlooking the Adriatic, in the province of Lecce.

The 2025 edition of the celebrations in honor of Maria SS. Annunziata confirmed the strong bond of the Castro community with its patron saint. The Sagra del pesce a sarsa, the most anticipated gastronomic event of the festival, was held on April 23, 2025, offering the traditional fried bluefish seasoned according to the ancient local recipe.

As per tradition, the program alternated moments of devotion—with the procession of the Virgin's statue through the village streets—with brass band concerts, artistic light displays, and shows, involving residents and visitors in the heart of Salento, in the province of Lecce.
