Edition 2025 — Saint Anthony the Abbot in Serracapriola

In 2025, Serracapriola once again celebrated Saint Anthony the Abbot according to the «Sent'Endon» ritual, the ancient tradition that brings the streets of the center to life every January 17th. The procession, led by the figure of the friar with the forcinella, passed through shops and homes singing vernacular songs dedicated to the Saint, collecting sweets and cured meats offered by the population as a sign of devotion and good wishes for the winter months.

The feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot in Serracapriola, in 2025, confirmed the vitality of a tradition rooted in the peasant culture of the Alto Tavoliere. On the eve, groups of singers traveled through the town with serenades in dialect accompanied by accordion, mandolin, and guitar and typical local instruments.

On January 17th, the «Sent'Endon» procession wound through the streets of the village, with the volunteer dressed as a friar leading the group and collecting offerings of sweets and cured meats along the way. The festival, linked to the cult of Saint Anthony the Abbot, protector of animals and the hearth, also represented a moment of community and the symbolic beginning of the Carnival period in the popular calendar of Serracapriola, in the province of Foggia.
