Caroseno Fair and Market

In 2025, the festivities in honor of Maria Santissima del Caroseno reaffirmed the strong bond between faith, tradition, and commerce that characterizes this event in Castellana Grotte (BA). The Chicken, Rabbit, and Grilled Meat Festival opened the celebrations on the evenings of September 5, 6, and 7 in Piazza Garibaldi, featuring tastings prepared by local butchers and the highly popular "Satirical Window Displays" competition.

On September 8th, the day of the Madonna del Caroseno, the centuries-old fair and market occupied Largo Porta Grande, Piazza Garibaldi, Via Roma, Corso Italia, Viale Aldo Moro, and the streets adjacent to the Tacconi municipal park, with numerous stalls. In the evening, the solemn procession traveled through the town center, closing a celebration that has been one of the most beloved events for the locals since 1692.

Friday, September 5 – Sunday, September 7 — Chicken and Rabbit Festival

• From 8:00 PM in Piazza Garibaldi: tasting of chicken, rabbit, and grilled meats prepared by local butchers
• "Satirical Window Displays" competition: satirical political-administrative sketches with costumed poultry
• Live music in the town squares

Monday, September 8 — Fair and Market and Feast of Maria SS. del Caroseno

• In the morning: centuries-old fair and market in Largo Porta Grande and the streets of the center (Piazza Garibaldi, Via Roma, Piazza Nicola e Costa, Corso Italia, Viale Aldo Moro, Via Giotto, Via Papa Pio XII, Via Francesco dell'Erba)
• Religious celebrations in honor of the Madonna del Caroseno
• In the evening: solemn procession through the town streets
